Love - Heartfelt Message 🧡

This week’s theme: love

It’s Valentine’s Day - of course this week’s theme is going to be about love… but not in the way you might think.

Trigger warning: this message talks about death and dying so if you’re not in a space to continue, I’ll see you next week. 🧡

This week, I was asked to meet with a woman who was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was in the hospital to offer her reiki.

And maybe talk about death (because…death doula).

Walking through the doors of a hospital can often be complicated. There are people who are joyful, somber, in a rush, or taking their time. The onslaught of so many different emotions from different people can be really overwhelming.

This was no different.

Meeting someone new when you’re going through a diagnosis such as pancreatic cancer might be one of the hardest things a person can go through.

But she handled it with such grace, humor, and authenticity.

I instantly fell in love with this woman. The stories she shared, her ability to let her emotions come out authentically, and her visitors.

She was telling people she knew that if they wanted to see her before she was gone, they better do it soon.

She was selfless, honest, and loving. Through laughter, tears, and grief.

One thing I shared last night as I was visiting with her and her loved ones was that she was going through grief, just like everyone else.

The room was silent and it seemed like it sunk in… everyone in this experience is going through grief. And everyone’s emotions had space to share how they handle that grief.

I told her that I saw her as brave, courageous and graceful. How wonderful she is to be so loving and thoughtful to her loved ones, even in the midst of her pain and fears.

It never ceases to amaze me how love will always produce more love. And a complete stranger can become so dear to our hearts in an instant.

I can’t wait to see her again. I know her time here is short and there’s so many stories I can’t wait for her to share with me. So many of her loved ones I am honored to meet. So many hands to hold.

I love her.

And I love you!
