Goodbye to my Soul Dog ❤️🩹

This week’s theme: goodbyes
Last week, I said goodbye to my soul dog.
Before I get into that -
I want to take a moment to share a few messages from our incredible sponsors from this weekend’s Death, Dying & Grief event.
My mind was pulled in so many directions that day, and truthfully—we dropped the ball when it came to properly highlighting the folks who helped make the event possible. This is my way of making that right and giving them the love and recognition they deserve.

Black Therapists of Central PA was established in 2019 on the cusp of a global pandemic by Co-founder and CEO Dr. Ericka Pinckney, LPC, NCC, and Co-Founder Rosanne G. Johnson, M.Ed, LPC, CCTP, NCC, RYT. Black Therapists of Central PA is a free access website designed to bridge the gap between expressed community needs and access to culturally specific licensed and pre- licensed clinicians. Our website and private clinicians group provide psychoeducation, referrals, recommendations, provider spotlights, clinical supervision, and peer support. Please visit our website if you are looking for a provider, and consider joining our network if you are a clinician as we’d love to feature you on our community access center.
It has been a pleasure and honor to connect with Beth and the team for the inaugural Death, Dying and Grief - An Honest Conversation 2024 and return as a Passage Sponsor this year, 2025. This event is meaningful in many ways; it builds a much-needed sense of community for participants and vendors. Rather, if someone has recently or ever experienced grief and loss or looking for end-of-life planning resources and supports, this event is a one-stop shop, a beautiful blend of psychoeducation and access to resources, and this aligns very much with the heart of Black Therapists of Central PA to bridge the gap between community need and access to meaningful tools and resources.

Bitner Family Funeral Homes is a family-owned funeral home and crematorium. We serve Harrisburg and the surrounding area including all walks of life with dignity, respect, and compassion. We are dedicated to excellence in services and provide green burials, cremation options, pet services and other funeral options.
Bitner Family Funeral Homes strives to take away the stigma of the traditional thinking of what a funeral home is. Participating in the “Death, Dying and Grieving” seminar was one way for us to share in that information with the community. The more we understand the death, dying and grieving process the more comfortable we can be with our final days.

Foxy was my constant companion for nearly 8 years—and losing her cracked me open.
In this week’s video and blog, I’m sharing what that goodbye looked like… and what grief feels like now, even as a death doula.
It’s raw, sacred, and real.
