This week’s theme: presence

Grief.

It’s a word that makes most of us uncomfortable.

Why? Because it’s an emotional weight that we can’t fix or heal for someone else.

When a person is grieving, they don’t need us to hand them a tissue or tell them that everything will be okay.

In fact, the best gift we can give someone who is grieving is much simpler than we think: our presence.

We are natural caretakers. When we see someone we love in pain, our instinct is to soothe, fix, and make things better.

But the truth is, grief doesn’t need fixing.

Grief is not a problem to be solved—it’s a process to be honored.

So what do we do?

We show up. We listen. We hold space.

Sometimes the most spiritual act of love is simply being present for another’s pain.

Grief is sacred, and by being there for someone who is grieving, we offer them permission to experience it fully, without rushing them through it.
